In Bayern trägt man Dirndl

Oktoberfest 2015 - egal, ob man es mag oder nicht. Mir sind ehrlich gesagt andere, ruhigere Gelegenheiten lieber, zu denen ich mein Dirndl anziehen kann, aber es ist zweifellos die Zeit, in der man mehr Tracht als sonst im Jahr sieht. Zum Glück, denn für mich ist es Teil meiner Heimat und meiner Kultur. Die bayerische Tradition aufrecht zu erhalten, egal ob in Sprache (ja, ich kann richtig Bayerisch!) oder in Brauchtum und Kleidung ist mir wichtig. High Heels, Kleines Schwarzes, Lederjacke oder flared Jeans - alles zu seiner Zeit, für mich schließt sich das nicht gegenseitig aus!

Mein Dirndl habe ich schon lang und das ist das besondere daran: Es unterliegt keinem Trend und ist immer wieder anders zu tragen, je nach Bluse, Schürze und Accessoires. Bereits 2013 und 2014 habe ich es Euch in anderen Varianten gezeigt. Neu ist allerdings, dass meine Schneiderin es mir umgeändert hat und mir gefällt das Oberteil nun deutlich besser als vorher, das hat Frau Schneider (sie heißt tatsächlich so!) wie immer perfekt gemacht.

BAVARIAN DIRNDL FOR THE MUNICH OKTOBERFEST

TRADITIONAL BAVARIAN DIRNDL

It's time to get ready for the Oktoberfest! The biggest beerfest and partyzone in the world will open its tents next weekend for 2 weeks which means more than 7 million litres of beer, 500000 grilled chickens and countless hangovers...

A dirndl is the traditional costume for women in Bavaria and other Alpine countries and regions like Austria and South Tyrol in Italy. Every region has its own style and it is very interesting to see the variety of dresses at the grand opening ceremony next weekend. At the Oktoberfest you will also see a lot of "modern" types of dirndls in a mini length or with a lot of glitter... That's not my cup of tea and as native Bavarian, a dirndl is part of my culture and identity and I perfer a classic style.

The combination of red and green is very popular here and also my dress is quite long which was always the case for a dirndl in the old days. It is made of silk and an investment piece which I bought a couple of years ago. However, I can wear it different ways depending on the occasion. Here you can see my version from last year where I paired it with a white blouse and a black apron. Today I am wearing my red and white gingham blouse and a dark green apron for a different look.

EIN TRADITIONELLES BAYERISCHES DIRNDL

Nur noch 1 Woche, dann heißt es wieder "O'zapft is!" Natürlich spreche ich von der Wiesn und es ist Zeit, mein Dirndl auszuführen!

Da ich ja selbst aus Oberammergau stamme, kommt für mich auch nur ein klassischer, traditioneller Stil in Frage, mit einem kurzen Glitzerdirndl würde ich mir nicht nur verkleidet vorkommen, sondern wäre bei allen Einheimischen sofort unten durch! Aber ein paar witzige Accessoires dürfen es gerne sein.

Touristendirndl - nein danke...

Mein Dirndl stammt von Angermaier in München, ich habe es vor einigen Jahren gekauft und es ist aus reiner Seide. Ein Dirndl kauft man schließlich nicht für eine Saison, denn man kann es mit Bluse und Schürze immer wieder unterschiedlich kombinieren. Letztes Jahr habe ich es Euch hier mit einer feinen weißen Bluse und schwarzer, transparenter Schürze vorgestellt. Heute trage ich eine rot-weiß karierte Bluse und eine dunkelgrüne Schürze dazu. Und es wirkt wie ein neues Dirndl, oder?

IT'S OKTOBERFEST TIME

Today I am wearing something very different, a dress that doesn't follow any trends or seasons.

A "Dirndl" is a traditional costume worn by women of all ages in the alpine regions of Germany and Austria. Traditionally a garment worn every day, it nowadays became an outfit for special occasions such as cultural festivities, religious holidays, weddings on the countryside and of course the Oktoberfest. There are different styles from region to region and also more formal silk dresses and casual ones in cotton or linen.

My Dirndl is made of silk and I have an additional red and white vichy blouse and a black apron which give it a different look.

You will notice that the position of the bow of my apron is on my right side which indicates that I am in a relationship or married, tied on the left sides shows you are single (virgin in the old days) while widows wear the bow in the back (except in parts of Austria where all women tie their apron in the back).

I understand that many of you won't have an opportunity to wear a Dirndl but if you want to add some Bavarian touch to your outfit, I have put together a selection of accessories and hope you like them.

The Oktoberfest in Munich this year lasts from 21 September until 6 October and will attract around 6,5 millions of visitors. Have you ever been to the Oktoberfest? Or are there any similar events in your area?

Heute trage ich ein Kleid, das weder Trends noch Jahreszeiten folgt, ein klassisches Dirndl meiner Heimat Oberbayern. Früher ein Alltagskleid, wird es heutzutage zu besonderen Anlässen, kirchlichen Feiertagen, Hochzeiten und natürlich in Bierzelten und auf dem Oktoberfest getragen. Der Stil ist von Region zu Region verschieden und es gibt Festtagsdirndl aus Seide, während Bierzeltdirndl aus Baumwolle oder Leinen sind. Nur eins haben alle gemeinsam: Mini und jede Art von goldenen Paris Hilton Dirndln gehen gar nicht!!

Mein Dirndl ist aus Seide und ich trage es je nach Anlass auch mit einer Bluse in feinem rot-weißen Vichykaro und einer schwarzen Schürze.

Vielleicht kennt Ihr die Bedeutung der Schleifenposition einer Dirndlschürze? Rechts getragen bedeutet in einer Beziehung/verheiratet, links Single (früher Zeichen von Jungfräulichkeit) und Witwen trage die Schleife hinten gebunden (in Teilen Österreichs werden Dirndlschürzen immer hinten gebunden).

Nicht jede Frau hat Gelegenheit, ein Dirndl oder Tracht zu tragen, ein komplettes Set kann auch ganz schön teuer sein, aber einen Bayerischen Touch kann man auch mit süßen Accessoires erzielen, ich habe Euch dazu eine Auswahl zusammengestellt.

Dieses Jahr heißt es am 21. September auf dem Oktoberfest wie immer um 12 Uhr mittags "Ozapft is!" und bis 6. Oktober werden ca. 6,5 Miliionen Besucher weltweit erwartet. Geht Ihr dieses Jahr auf die Wiesn?
