Today I am wearing something very different, a dress that doesn’t follow any trends or seasons.
A „Dirndl“ is a traditional costume worn by women of all ages in the alpine regions of Germany and Austria. Traditionally a garment worn every day, it nowadays became an outfit for special occasions such as cultural festivities, religious holidays, weddings on the countryside and of course the Oktoberfest. There are different styles from region to region and also more formal silk dresses and casual ones in cotton or linen.
My Dirndl is made of silk and I have an additional red and white vichy blouse and a black apron which give it a different look.
You will notice that the position of the bow of my apron is on my right side which indicates that I am in a relationship or married, tied on the left sides shows you are single (virgin in the old days) while widows wear the bow in the back (except in parts of Austria where all women tie their apron in the back).
I understand that many of you won’t have an opportunity to wear a Dirndl but if you want to add some Bavarian touch to

The Oktoberfest in Munich this year lasts from 21 September until 6 October and will attract around 6,5 millions of visitors. Have you ever been to the Oktoberfest? Or are there any similar events in your area?
Heute trage ich ein Kleid, das weder Trends noch Jahreszeiten folgt, ein klassisches Dirndl meiner Heimat Oberbayern. Früher ein Alltagskleid, wird es heutzutage zu besonderen Anlässen, kirchlichen Feiertagen, Hochzeiten und natürlich in Bierzelten und auf dem Oktoberfest getragen. Der Stil ist von Region zu Region verschieden und es gibt Festtagsdirndl aus Seide, während Bierzeltdirndl aus Baumwolle oder Leinen sind. Nur eins haben alle gemeinsam: Mini und jede Art von goldenen Paris Hilton Dirndln gehen gar nicht!!
Mein Dirndl ist aus Seide und ich trage es je nach Anlass auch mit einer Bluse in feinem rot-weißen Vichykaro und einer schwarzen Schürze.
Vielleicht kennt Ihr die Bedeutung der Schleifenposition einer Dirndlschürze? Rechts getragen bedeutet in einer Beziehung/verheiratet, links Single (früher Zeichen von Jungfräulichkeit) und Witwen trage die Schleife hinten gebunden (in Teilen Österreichs werden Dirndlschürzen immer hinten gebunden).
Nicht jede Frau hat Gelegenheit, ein Dirndl oder Tracht zu tragen, ein komplettes Set kann auch ganz schön teuer sein, aber einen Bayerischen Touch kann man auch mit süßen Accessoires erzielen, ich habe Euch dazu eine Auswahl zusammengestellt.
Dieses Jahr heißt es am

That is some fetching national dress! It's a shame England doesn't really have anything similar (Morris dancers?) and as for New Zealand – it was only settled by Europeans less than 200 years ago, so not much history to draw on there.

pfundig absolut pfundig 🙂 ein wirklich sehr schickes Dirndl, das Dir absolut gut steht. Die Farbe ist wie für Dich gemacht und auch Dein Schmuck ist soooo passend (wie immer :-)) Ein rundrum gelungenes Trachtenoutfit. Und die Location unterstreicht das bayerische Feeling auf Deine Bildern noch.
Zur Wiesn habe ich irgendwie ein gespaltenes Verhältnis – ich gehe gerne hin, wenn ich eingeladen werde. Außerdem bummel ich gerne am letzten Wiesn-Sonntag durch (sofern das Wetter mitmacht). Mein Kleidungsstück ist das nicht unbedingt. Aber für einen Besuch auf das Oktoberfest würde ich auch ein Dirndl tragen wollen. Dein Dirndl mag ich besonders wegen der hübschen Farbe und wie es um das Dekolleté geschnitten ist. Ganz wunderbar passt die Jacke dazu.
Liebe Annette hübsch siehst du in deinem Dirndl aus. Alles ist perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt. Die Frisur und der Schmuck.

Greetje, a Dirndl is indeed a different type of clothing and probably it depends on how much you are connected to national or regional customs, traditions and culture. I consider myself as very international yet I relate to my home. That is why I wear a Dirndl on special occasions. It just feels right and appropriate for me.

Ich war vor ca. 5 Jahren mal auf dem Volksfest in Rosenheim da hatten 90% aller Leute Trachten an. Kinder, Jugendliche, alte Menschen.. das war SO!! schön!! War total begeistert.
Dein Dirndl ist auch total süß. Das Jäckchen mit dem Schößchen ist superschön! Diese Rüschen und das rote Oberteil sehen einfach hinreissend aus. Auch die Kette und die Handtasche passen perfekt dazu.

Dear Annette – your dirndl is absolutely gorgeous and you look stunning in it. Its one of the items I really wanted to purchase when we lived in Bavaria – but the price shocked me and my ex said 'no way' was he spending that amount of money :-(. I think they're such feminine outfits.
