I'll never complain about the heat but I still have to go to work...
In Germany the majority of offices are not air conditioned and working in a hot and sticky office is definitely a challenge these days! Personally I am lucky as my office is facing west, I have a balcony and leave the door wide open all day long which makes it very endurable.

CLASSIC BUSINESS LOOK



MY BUSINESS LOOK

Although I always describe blogging as a "24 hrs job" I do have a regular fulltime job which requires getting dressed for the office early mornings.
I work in an international, multicultural, military environment with 85% male colleagues and visitors, most of them wear uniform. We don't have a strict dress code for civilians but I am dealing with a lot of visitors and a professional office attire is important but at the same time I don't want to give up my individual, female style.

I love wearing dresses and skirts to the office but my choice of clothes very much depends on the weather! We still have some snow left and at night temperatures are below 0C. Therefore it is easier to opt for trousers and a blazer which I am wearing today. For a classic office look you often see this paired with a white or light coloured blouse. Nothing wrong with it but personally I hardly ever wear that typical office attire as I don't like the double collar effect of the blouse and blazer. I prefer silky tops in various colours, sometimes with a pattern and often with short sleeves only as otherwise I get too warm in the office when I am wearing them under a blazer or a cardigan. My new green blouse is from Esprit's spring collection.

Accessories add the personal touch to your business look


Based on the colour of my top I choose my shoes and handbag. In winter I mostly rely on black shoes and boots but in summer I love to add a special touch with coloured heels. Jewellery is essential for me but today I only chose earrings as the chain collar already served as a necklace. Accessories help to create my individual, colour coordinated look.

MEIN BÜRO LOOK - EIN PROJEKT MIT DER MODEFLÜSTERIN

Auch wenn ich meinen Blog gerne als "24 Stunden Job" bezeichne, denn es ist immer etwas zu tun, abends, am Wochenende, unterwegs... habe ich natürlich einen "richtigen" Vollzeitjob. Morgens stehe ich also genauso wie die meisten von Euch vor dem Kleiderschrank um mich für den Arbeitstag fertig zu machen.

Ich arbeite in einem internationalen, multikulturellen, militärischen Arbeitsumfeld, meine Kollegen und Besucher sind zu 85% männlich, die meisten tragen Uniform. Obwohl es keinen festgeschriebenen Dresscode für uns Zivilisten gibt, gehört für mich ein professioneller Kleidungsstil am Arbeitsplatz einfach dazu, schon weil ich täglich mit zahlreichen, oft hochrangigen Gästen zu tun habe. Dabei möchte ich aber meinen eigenen, femininen Stil nicht aufgeben.

Ich trage gerne Kleider und Röcke im Büro, aber meine Kleidung ist sehr abhängig vom Wetter und da wir immer noch Schnee haben, sind Hosen momentan einfacher. Die Frage "Stiefel oder Pumps" hat sich hoffentlich sehr bald erledigt, in der kalten Jahreszeit nehme ich oft ein zweites Paar mit ins Büro. 
Zu Hose und Blazer sieht man sehr häufig weiße oder helle Blusen, das ist der typische "Businesslook", den ich an mir nicht mag. Ich bevorzuge fließende, seidige Tops, oft mit kurzen oder halblangen Ärmeln. Lange Ärmel sind mir unter Blazern und Cardigans, die ich alternativ gerne trage, oft zu warm. Meine neue grüne Bluse ist in der Frühjahrskollektion von Esprit erhältlich.

Accessoires machen den persönlichen Look aus, daher verzichte ich darauf nie!


Meine Schuhe und Handtasche wähle ich farblich passend zum Top. Im Winter sind es zwar meist schwarze Schuhe oder Stiefel, aber im Sommer kann man z.B. mit roten Pumps tolle Akzente sezen. Außerdem darf Schmuck bei mir nie fehlen, aber heute machte es mir das Top mit Glitzerrand einfach und ich habe nur passende Ohrringe ausgewählt.

MY FAVOURITE DRESSES FROM BASLER FASHION

MEINE LIEBLINGSKLEIDER VON BASLER FASHION

In dieser Jahreszeit bekomme ich immer besonders viele Einladungen zu Events, die ich mit meinen internationalen Kollegen feiere - letzten Freitag der Italienische Nationalfeiertag, nächsten Monat folgen der Kanadische und Französische Nationalfeiertag sowie der Amerikanische Unabhängigkeitstag. Alles prima Gelegenheiten, sich besonders hübsch zu machen :-)

Aber trotz Partyzeit dauert es noch ein bisschen bis zur Urlaubszeit und das heißt, auch bei Wärme möchte ich im Büro gut angezogen sein und Kleider trage ich einfach am liebsten, also ist hier ein schicker Officelook angesagt. Ärmellose Kleider, die, wenn nötig mit einem leichten Blazer kombiniert werden können.

At this time of the year we have a lot of social functions at my work like the Italian Reception last Friday or the upcoming Canada Day, the American Independence Day and the French Bastille Day, all to be celebrated with my colleagues! Plenty of occasions for dressing up :-)
But although the summer party season is in full swing, I still have to think about office appropriate looks before I can enjoy the summer break.

THE MOST COMFORTABLE PENCIL SKIRT

The sun came out after a long grey and rainy period! My friend Véronique spent the weekend with me and jumped in as my photographer before we went out for a nice breakfast and some shopping in my neighbour town Garmisch-Partenkirchen.


The weather now allows me to wear dresses and skirts again, albeit with my pale legs... For a while I meant to show you my new blue stretch skirt sent over by ISABI. I love working with them and have already shown you my bootcut jeans and my wide shrug. The jersey skirt creates a smooth silhouette and the deep elastic waistband makes it so comfortable for a day at the office. 

I paired it with a soft blouse with paisley prints from French brand Etam. It is a bit longer, more like a tunic and also looks great over a pair of white skinny tousers or capris and flat sandals or espadrilles for a real summer feeling (well, one day... still waiting for that!)

DER BEQUEMSTE BLEISTIFTROCK

Endlich kam die Sonne raus und meine Freundin Véronique und ich haben ein schönes Wochenende zusammen verbracht - Brunch in Garmisch und anschließend noch ein bisschen Shopping. Die gemeinsame Zeit ist einfach immer wieder schön! Und sie war auch so nett und hat noch ein paar Fotos für Euch gemacht.

Nun kann ich auch wieder Kleider und Röcke tragen, nur meine blassen Beine müsst Ihr mir nachsehen... ich denke aber, das geht vielen von Euch so! Cla von glam up your lifestyle hatte erst kürzlich über Selbstbräuner berichtet und ich sitze hier gerade mit eingecremten Beinen ;-)

Heute kann ich Euch auch endlich meinen neuen dunkelblauen Stretchrock zeigen, den mit ISABI geschickt hat. Unsere Zusammenarbeit ist immer wieder super und ich hatte Euch schon meine Bootcut Jeans und meinen weiten, seidigen Cardigan vorgestellt. Die Silhouette mag ich einfach und der unheimlich bequeme Stretchanteil und Elastikbund sind perfekt, wenn man im Büro am Schreibtisch sitzt.

Dazu trage ich eine ganz angenehm weiche Bluse mit Paisleymuster der Französischen Marke Etam.Sie hat eher Tunikalänge und sieht daher auch super zu weißen Skinnies oder einer Caprihose aus. Dazu flache Sandalen oder Espadrilles für einen klasse Sommerlook (naja, von sommerlichen Temperaturen und Urlaub träume ich momentan noch...)

REVIVAL OF THE DENIM SKIRT

Last week I had an appointment with my physiotherapist who is not only an excellent practitioner but also a very nice woman whom I immediately connected with. Naturally we are also chatting when I see her. She is a very attractive lady, a couple of years older than I am and was looking for a casual chic skirt for quite a while. A decent length was important to her - something I can relate to. During my next appointment I showed her my new denim skirt which Damart sent me (my white linen trousers here are by Damart as well). It came around 3'' longer but since I am only 5'4'' my seamstress shortened it for me to a hemline around my knees which I prefer for skirts and dresses.

OFFICE STYLING

Denim skirts have a bit of a 90ies vibe but luckily made a revival. I love the dark wash and stretch denim makes it really easy to wear. Paired with a soft pink blouse (similar here or option with sleeves here) and a navy blue blazer I can even wear it at the office.



JEANSRÖCKE SIND ZURÜCK

Letzte Woche unterhielt ich mich mit meiner Physiotherapeutin über Rocklängen. Sie, eine sehr attraktive Frau, ein paar Jahre älter als ich, war schon seit einiger Zeit auf der Suche nach einem sportlichen, schicken Rock, der aber nicht zu kurz sein sollte - ich kenne dieses Problem! Bei meinem nächsten Termin habe ich ihr gleich meinen neuen Jeansrock gezeigt, den mir Damart geschickt hat (meine weiße Leinenhose, die ich Euch hier vorgestellt habe, ist auch von Damart). Im Original ist er 7 cm länger - bei meiner Größe von nur 1,63 habe ich ihn auf etwa Knielänge kürzen lassen, denn so trage ich Röcke und Kleider am liebsten.

STYLING FÜR'S BÜRO

Jeansröcke haben ja ein 90er Flair, sind aber nie ganz verschwunden und machen jetzt wieder ein Revival. Wie auch bei Hosen trage ich eigentlich nur klassische, dunkle Waschungen, somit ist dieser Rock ideal für mich und der Stretchanteil macht ihn unheimlich bequem. Mit meiner zartrosa Bluse (Alternative hier und wunderschön und elegant aus Satin hier) kann ich ihn auch gut im Büro tragen - dort hatte ich ihn mit einem dunkelblauen Blazer kombiniert.

WELCOME SPRING IN NAVY STRIPES

While most of my blogger friends on the other side of the North Atlantic are suffering from extreme weather conditions and my daughter in London needs to get her Hunters out, we are really lucky here in Germany! This weekend temperatures reached incredible 16C, I had breakfast at my terrace, love my pink primroses and I am wearing more pumps than boots this winter. And the weather forecast tells me I can keep on wearing more dresses, skirts and heels.

What might look like a blouse and a skirt is actually a dress. I love it as I can move, bend over or stretch and no blouse needs to be tucked in afterwards! I paired it with a white blazer and my orange bag adds a bit of colour.

MARINE STREIFEN

Während meine Bloggerkolleginnen in USA und Kanada mit extrem winterlichen Wetterbedingungen zu kämpfen haben und meine Tochter in London eigentlich nur noch Gummistiefel tragen müßte, haben wir hier in Deutschland wirklich Glück. Der Föhn bescherte uns dieses Wochenende sagengafte 16C, ich habe auf der Terrasse gefrühstückt, Primeln eingepflanzt und trage diesen Winter häufiger Pumps als Stiefel! Und mit der Vorhersage für die kommende Woche kann ich schon jetzt weitere Outfits in Kleidern, Röcken und Pumps planen...

Was hier vielleicht aussieht wie Rock und Bluse, ist tasächlich ein Kleid. Ich finde das super praktisch, denn ich kann mich bewegen, bücken, strecken und nichts rutscht raus! Dazu trage ich meinen weißen Blazer von letztem Sommer und als Farbtupfer eine orangene Tasche.

HOW TO LOOK STYLISH IN THE OFFICE



Golden October weather at its best! Temperatures here in Germany were similar to the ones I enjoyed in Portugal last week. Back at work I want to show you a typical office look taken during my lunch break. Black&Blue is a mix I like a lot, I often pair jeans with a black blazer (make sure you come back for my next post) and also wore this colour combination here.

There are dress codes for various branches and you may have to obey a certain rule in your position. I work in a military, male dominated environment and I am dealing with visitors and high ranking officers and officials on a regular basis which involves a close cooperation with our Protocol Department.

LENGTH
Like in any professional environment pay attention to the length of your skirt or dress. I have a few clothes with a length at the edge of my personal comfort zone but some of them work very well with opaque tights.

BLAZER
Usually blazers are part of my office outfits as they complete a professional look. Make sure the fabric isn't too stiff or thick. This one is form fitted yet lightweight and comfortable when I sit at my desk. Alternatively I wear classic cardigans over a top or a dress. I prefer them to jumpers as they allow me to leave them open or even take them off a lot easier.

JEWELLERY
If you wear dark or neutral colours, accessorize them with some statement jewellery. Make make sure your earrings aren't too big as the clacking noise when answering the phone is distracting (I wore these only for the photos as they match the necklace!). I also find bangles not practical at work and go for bracelets instead.

HANDBAG
A classy handbag adds a professional touch to your attire. Usually I carry my lunch or other smaller items like sunglasses, gloves or in winter even a second pair of shoes to work. If my handbag is too small, I use an extra tote bag and love my Longchamps bags for that purpose.
