Wieder zuhause haben wir auch gleich Fotos gemacht und… ich fühle mich in diesem Kleid einfach nicht wohl!!!
DAS MUST-HAVE KLEID DER SAISON VON ZARA
Warum das? Es ist so schön, super angenehm zu tragen, ich kann es toll kombinieren und offenbar ein must-have in diesem Sommer, denn ich habe es bereits mehrfach auf Instagram gesehen.
Die Länge zwischen midi und maxi ist bei meiner Größe von nur 1,63m sicher nicht ideal, aber lag es nur daran, dass ich es so unvorteilhaft für mich finde? Ich habe Stephanie, die Modeflüsterin um ihre fachliche Meinung gebeten.
„Das strenge und kontrastreiche Streifenmuster ist too much für Dich, das erschlägt Dich und hat zu wenig ‚feminine, feine Weichheit‘.
Das wäre allerdings erträglich, wenn der Rock in etwa knielang wäre. Der größte Haken ist, dass das Kleid viel zu lang für Dich ist. Das schon etwas zu überwältigende Muster zusammen mit der riesigen Fläche ist das eigentliche Problem.“
Herzlichen Dank, liebe Stephanie! Wie gesagt, an die Länge dachte ich auch, aber dass es die Gesamtheit aus Länge, auffälligem Muster und die Strenge des Kleides waren, hätte ich nicht gedacht. Aber es leuchtet mir absolut ein – umso mehr, als ich sowieso kein Streifenfan bin und es trotzdem immer mal wieder ausprobiere… Ich greife in der Regel immer zu unifarbenen Teilen und das ist wohl auch gut so!
Entscheidend: Ich muss mich wohlfühlen und mir selbst gefallen!
Stephanie riet mir auch, das Kleid knielang zu kürzen und mit beruhigenden, neutralen Accessoires in weichen, soften Formen zu kombinieren. Das hätte ich auch getan… aber meine Tochter hat nun ein neues Kleid 🙂
Wie gut es ihr steht zeige ich Euch am Ende dieses Posts. Und auch hier liegt Stephanie 100% richtig, denn sie sah gleich, dass Alenas Proportionen anders sind: Schlankere, längere Beine, der optische Schwerpunkt liegt weniger stark im Hüft-Po-Oberschenkel-Bereich.

THIS SEASON’S MUST-HAVE DRESS FROM ZARA
… and why I handed it down to my daughter
Three weeks I saw a tall, pale young woman with ginger hair at Zara in London trying on this red striped dress on front of the mirror. She looked fabulous in it, it really matched her look and style – and I complimented her on her choice (I often do that when I see someone wearing something I really like!)For quite a while I was looking for a shirt dress and since I know red is flattering me and it was still available in my size, I instantly bought the dress.
At home we took photos for the blog but… I didn’t feel comfortable in the dress and looking at the photos I think it doesn’t flatter me at all!!!Why is that? It is a beautiful dress, the cotton fabric feels great on my skin and I can combine it with several of my jackets and shoes. Meanwhile I have seen it on Instagram many times and consider it a must-have this season.
I am only 5’4 and the lenght which is between midi and maxi could be slightly tricky so I asked style expert and blogger Stephanie of Modeflüsterin about her opinion why I think the dress isn’t ideal for me. She agreed it is far too long but also pointed out the distinctive pattern is too much for me and the dress is lacking a soft and feminine touch. It is the combination of those elements which make the dress not flattering at all for my body type and my personal style. Stephanie knows my style very well as we have worked together on several blog projects in the past. Most important: I have to feel comfortable and good!She recommended to shorten the dress to knee length and pair it with accessories in order to soften the style.

When your daughter has finished wearing it I would shorten it and wear it yourself as it suits you.

It's a beautiful tailored 50s shirtdress and your styling is perfect and sympathetic. I love the attention to detail in the chevron side seams. That's good tailoring. I can understand why your daughter has „borrowed“ it!
Sorry to disagree with you Annette but I absolutely adore this dress on you! Even this length although I can see how shorter it would suit you too. The uoside is that Alena looks stunning wearing it in Italy so it's a win win ?

I think you are totally right in all your observations. I would have bought it too and probably have had similar „problems“ with it. How strange it can look severe /masculin on you and not on Alena. And I know I differ in opinion with the Michelles. Sorry.
