STILL IN LOVE WITH STRIPES… AFTER 22 YEARS
When I was pregnant with my first child I stood on the waterfront and watched the end of a regatta of my sailing club. A male friend on one of the boats spotted me and shouted out to me: „Annette, stripes make you look fat!“ I was wearing this strech dress with my baby bump and will never forget that funny situation! My son will turn 22 by the end of this month and now you know how old my striped dress is! Currently I love these striped dresses by OTTO and Phase Eight!
Very often I mix old pieces with new purchases and organising my wardrobe is one of my strengthes: I clearly sort my clothes by colour from black on the left to white on the right side, everything on the same type of coat hangers. I admit, it is a bit of an obsession but it makes it easier for me to get dressed in the mornings and I have a good overview of what I have or need to buy.

At the turn of the season I move clothes of the passing season into the basement and bring up the new ones. At that time I also do a major clear out:

donate: give to charity

MEIN STREIFENKLEID… AUCH NOCH NACH 22 JAHREN
Ich stand schwanger am Ufer und habe die von einer Regatta zurückkehrenden Boote meines damaligen Segelclubs beobachtet, als mir ein Freund von einem der Boote – für alle unüberhörbar – zurief: „Annette, Streifen machen dick!“ Ich trug dieses Stretchkleid und musste wirklich lachen und habe die Situation immer noch vor Augen. Mein Sohn wird Ende dieses Monats 22 und nun wisst Ihr, wie alt dieses Streifenkleid ist!
Und als ich bei meiner Recherche die aktuelle Kollektion des süddeutschen Herstellers Kimmich Trikot gesehen habe, war ich sofort wieder begeistert – immer noch genau mein Stil! Und aktuell finde ich diese Streifenkleider von OTTO und Phase Eight wunderschön!

Alte Teile mit neuen Errungenschaften mischen ist etwas, was ich sehr viel mache. Und ich muss sagen, dass Kleiderschrank sortieren ein bisschen ein Spleen von mir ist… alle Sachen hängen farblich sortiert von Schwarz ganz links bis Weiß ganz rechts auf den gleichen Kleiderbügeln. Nie käme mir einer dieser dünnen Drahtbügel aus der Reinigung in den Schrank! Aber diese Ordnungssucht macht es natürlich mogens auch leichter, wenn ich mal wieder „gar nichts anzuziehen habe!“ So weiß ich auch genau, was ich habe und was ich brauche oder möchte.
Am Ende einer jeden Saison kommt noch das Ausmisten dazu, wenn Winter- bzw. Sommergarderobe in den Keller wandern und ich meine Sachen in Kategorien einteile:

behalten: neu, passt und gefällt mir

ändern: ein Job für meine Schneiderin!
-
vielleicht: zu schade zum Weggeben, kommt vorübergehend in den Keller
-
verkaufen: auf ebay oder Mädchenflohmarkt, wenn es Markenware ist
-
verschenken: für guten Zweck, Bedürftige

Wow – I can't believe this dress is 22 years old. Stripes are always a classic and you look wonderful in it. I am horrible at organizing my clothes. Living in Southern California, I pretty much use most of my clothes year round so there's no real rotation and I just end up hanging onto everything.

ja, Streifen machen dick – andere, aber dich sicher nicht. Ich finde diesen Streifenlook ungewohnt lässig an dir, aber es gefällt mir sehr. Es ist so frisch und mädchenhaft!
Ich bin eine ganz große Ausmisterin. Weniger aus Vernunftgründen, sondern weil ich gerne ausräume und herumsortiere und es als Gefühl der Befreiung empfinde, regelmäßig Dinge, die ich nicht mehr benötige, auszusortieren. Aber an vielen Sachen hänge ich auch sehr und die dürfen dann sehr lange bei mir weilen.
Dass du seit 22 Jahren deine fantastische Figur gehalten hast – Hut ab, liebe Annette, das ist wirklich eine Leistung auf die du stolz sein kannst!

I just love this dress on you and the story it has – wow, you haven't change in 22 years after having your children!
I also organize my clothes by colors, but from white on the left to black on the right. Though, I also organize them by categories (tops – dresses & jumpsuits – skirts – pants – blazers etc). I also pack my winter clothes for summer. It saves the space (I don't have a big closet), but also it's fun to discover some forgotten pieces when the season changes, it's like a game. 🙂

Respekt dass Du nach 22 Jahren in diesem Kleid noch so eine tolle Figur machst. Das finde ich enorm!! Da sieht man auch gut daran, dass klassische Teile einfach nie aus der Mode kommen, denn Du siehst wirklich toll aus. Mit Blazer und Tasche sieht das sportliche Kleid ruckzuck elegant aus und die Schuhe hast du sehr schön dazu gewählt.

Hallo Annette, was für ein zauberhaftes Kleid. Und, wie du schon schreibst, ein Kleidungsstück, was frau wirklich über Jahre immer wieder aus dem Schrank holen kann.
Mein Kleiderschrank ist scheinbar genau so organisiert wie deiner: Alle Oberteile sind farblich sortiert und hängen auf Bügeln, bei Röcken, Kleidern und Hosen bin ich nicht ganz so konsequent, die hängen lediglich zusammen und „grob“ sortiert. Die farbliche Sortierung macht mir die Auswahl der Kleidungsstücke viel einfacher. Glücklicherweise habe ich genügend Platz, was es mir natürlich erleichtert, diese Ordnung beizubehalten.
Auch regelmäßiges Ausmisten gehört für mich dazu – habe ich erst gestern wieder gemacht (und meine Tochter hat sich gefreut – einige Teile stehen ihr eben einfach besser als mir).

Me too! I love stripes and when I go shopping I tend to gravitate to stripes or polka dots.
BTW, I was in Germany last week for 4 days. I fell in love with the country, sites, food and the people.
