OFFICE LOOK FOR HOT SUMMER TEMPERATURES
Stay cool yet dress appropriately!
I’ll never complain about the heat but I still have to go to work…
In Germany the majority of offices are not air conditioned and working in a hot and sticky office is definitely a challenge these days! Personally I am lucky as my office is facing west, I have a balcony and leave the door wide open all day long which makes it very endurable.
Keep the right balance between summer and work appropriate clothes even if there is not a strict dress code at your company. Since I am working in a military, multinational, male dominated environment, it is most important for me to always maintain a professional look.
I paired my new midi wrap skirt from Finery London with a sleeveless blouse and peeptoes. My daughter and I recently visited the pop-up store of this new online label in London, founded by 3 women who were in leading positions at Asos and Topshop before. Alena bought several pieces and we can’t wait for their new AW collection!
From their website:
What sets Finery London apart?
„I think we understand that women don’t shop by age, it’s more about
their personality. Also, I firmly believe good design’s as much about
functionality as it is the overall look, which is why we’re paying such
close attention to the construction and fit. We aim to flatter, we want
you to look the best you can and make clothes that help you to do that. I
don’t want to be chasing the colour of the season – I want it to stand
for being individual.“
10 personal „summer in the office“ tipps:
- It is still an office, not the Coachella festival…
- Skirts and dresses shouldn’t be much shorter than your normal length
- No boho maxi skirts and dresses
- No colourful revealing sundresses
- No shorts (7/8 ankle trousers or even culottes might be an alternative)
- No flip-flops or gladiator sandals
- No spaghetti-tops (I do wear not too tight sleeveless tops which hide my bra straps)
- Make sure your underwear isn’t visible when you wear light fabrics and colours
- Take a second pair of shoes (the heat makes your feet swell)
- Keep a neutral blazer or cardigan in your office for a meeting on short notice
